Volunteers of America Michigan

Volunteers of America Michigan is proud to serve those who first served our country. Staff members work day in and day out to ensure that our heroes have the tools necessary to build their life here at home. Services are offered to veterans to help them navigate difficult times and empower them to succeed.

Through the Supportive Services for Veterans Families (SSVF) program, short-term supportive services and temporary financial assistance are available for very low-income veterans and their families. This support can help with rent evictions and to rapidly re-house those who are already homeless. VOAMI also can provide employment training and placement for veterans. The Homeless Veteran Reintegration Program (HVRP) provides services that prepare veterans for the workplace and address employment barriers through coordinated care. At VOAMI’s transitional housing facility homeless veterans have access to a warm bed, three meals a day, and one on one care from staff. For veterans facing food insecurity, the Veteran Food Security Project (VFSP) provides a week’s worth of shelf stable emergency food relief. VOAMI is also working to identify veterans & active-duty members with suicide risk factors through education and outreach through our Suicide Prevention and Referral Program (SERV).
